Story
Holiday Giving Program 2022
Adopt a Family
The holidays are a special time of year for many people; a time of goodwill and celebration. Sadly, this isn’t true for everyone, including individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence. The holiday season can be extremely stressful for survivors who may be in the midst of fleeing or just getting back on their feet after leaving an abusive relationship.
This year, we continue to see hardships brought on by COVID-19 and the recession; with added stress, financial setbacks and housing crises, survivors are facing more challenges than ever before.
To help these families have a holiday season filled with warmth and joy, the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is hosting its annual Holiday Giving Program.
We are accepting online donations (below) on behalf of our participating families. The funds raised will provide families in need with gift cards, so that survivors can buy gifts for their family members for the holidays. This program has gotten an overwhelmingly positive response from those we serve over the last several years, so we are continuing with this format.
Our goal is to raise $100 to give each of the 100 people (30 families).
Total goal: $10,000 to provide to families this holiday season.
We are so grateful for your support. If we reach our goal of $10,000, any additional contributions will support survivors other immediate needs, and the services we provide to survivors at no cost to them.
UPDATE:
WOW, WE ARE OVERWHELMED WITH THE GENEROSITY OF OUR COMMUNITY! WE SURPASSED OUR $10,000 GOAL!

Meet One of Our 30 Families that your donation CAN support this
holiday season:
Angelique came to the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center after experiencing years of physical and emotional abuse. Her husband had recently been arrested for assaulting her in their home, and she was able to obtain a restraining order against him. This resulted in him being removed from the home, leaving Angelique and her four young children in a dire financial situation without his income.
Because Angelique had no one to help care for her kids, she had to leave her job. With the help of her advocate at the Center, she applied for public benefits and is in the process of securing childcare for her children so she can eventually return to work.
The sudden loss of her husband’s income has left her with limited resources for the holidays and will force her to make difficult decisions about paying bills or purchasing holiday gifts for her children. Your donation will provide much needed help for her to provide gifts for them, which she will not be able to do on her own. We are trying to raise $100 per person; for Angelique’s family, this means she would get a gift card of $500. This gift would help her to make the holiday season special for her and her four children.
