What’s on a fridge can tell a powerful story.

A child’s drawing. A past-due bill. A reminder for therapy. Popcorn for movie night.

Fridges hold the everyday details of life: the things we carry, the moments we’re building toward, and the hopes we’re holding onto.

Fridge Stories uses six-word stories, paired with snapshots of daily life, to reflect the real experiences of people connected to our work: survivors of domestic violence, young people learning healthy relationships, individuals taking accountability and working to change harmful behavior, and families moving toward healing and stability.

Each story is just six words. Together, they tell a much bigger story about resilience, prevention, accountability, and hope.

Small words. Big hope.

Why This Campaign Matters

Domestic violence isn’t one story. It’s many – and it affects people at different moments and in different ways.

Some are seeking safety.
Some are learning to prevent violence before it starts.
Some are working to understand their behavior and change it.
Some are protecting themselves and their children in moments of heightened risk.

Fridge Stories exists to honor the full picture – not just crisis, but the paths toward safety, healing, and a future free from violence.

The Stories

“Nora has bruises that she hides.”

This story reflects how often abuse goes unseen - and why access to safe, confidential support matters.

“Coming to group keeps me grounded.”

A reminder that healing and accountability take many forms, and that group spaces can be life-changing.

“Erica raised a kind, respectful boy.”

A snapshot of prevention in action - showing how early education and healthy masculinity can shape safer futures.

“Understanding her danger, Mekaela saved herself.”

A reflection of heightened risk - particularly for pregnant and postpartum women - and the importance of timely, informed intervention.

A white fridge with children gathered in front of it. A photo of a smiling mother and child, a reminder note to pick up popcorn for movie night, an an appointment reminder for Art Therapy. This six word story reads "Giving back changes lives and futures."

“Giving back changes lives and futures.”

A celebration of community support and what’s possible when people show up for one another.

Your Support Changes What Goes on the Fridge

Behind every fridge story is a network of support – advocates, educators, clinicians, counselors, specialists and community members – and people like you.

Your generosity helps:

  • Survivors access safety planning, advocacy, and healing services

  • Young people learn healthy relationship skills and healthy masculinity

  • Individuals take accountability and build healthier behaviors

  • Communities find solutions to support survivors most at risk and to reduce domestic violence homicide

Your support changes what goes on the fridge.
It helps replace fear with stability, crisis with care, and uncertainty with hope.

Each year, it takes $2.3 million to say yes to all who find their way to Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center.

If these stories moved you, we invite you to be part of what comes next.
