Without volunteers, we would not be able to offer many of our essential services including court advocacy, hotline response and free child care.
You do not need prior experience working with a domestic violence organization. If you can bring your passion and skills, we can provide informative training programs to teach you how to help survivors.

How You Can Help
Here are some of the many ways our volunteers are making positive changes in people’s lives:
Hotline
Hotline volunteers are often the first line of support for survivors. Are you a good listener? Answering the hotline can be very rewarding and Center staff is always available to assist you.
Completion of Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center’s 30 hour Domestic Violence Advocacy Training Series is required.
Court Advocates
Going to court to get a restraining order can be critical to a survivor’s safety but the process can be intimidating for anyone who is unfamiliar with the legal system. Volunteer advocates offer comfort and support while guiding victims through the experience, from filling out paperwork to standing before the judge.
Completion of Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center’s 30 hour Domestic Violence Advocacy Training Series is required.
Childcare Providers
Volunteer childcare providers engage in creative play activities with children in a safe, nurturing environment while their parents attend free counseling groups, workshops or individual meetings. If you love working with children, this may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.
10 hours of Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center’s Domestic Violence Advocacy Training is required.
Administrative Assistance
Volunteers are always welcome to assist with daily office tasks including answering the phone, taking messages, copying, filing, computer work and communications.
Fundraising Events
Volunteers are crucial to the success of our fundraising events. Many enjoy getting involved in annual events like the Walk Against Domestic Violence and the White Ribbon event, while others help with community outreach throughout the year.
Girls Inc. of the Seacoast Area
Through our partnership with Girls Inc., we are committed to helping girls gain the confidence and skills they need to lead successful, independent, fulfilling lives.
One of the most meaningful ways you can support our efforts is to help girls in our community become strong, smart and bold. Girls Inc. volunteer opportunities include:
Career speaker
Share your business expertise
Host a Girls Inc. of the Seacoast Area awareness/fundraising event
If you are interested in helping govern and grow our organization, the Board of Directors may be the place for you.
